New Signs
You may have noticed some new signs in Grandmont lately! These signs were provided by the city for Neighborhood Associations through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds. Each neighborhood is getting 3 signs (we have 2 installed so far in Grandmont) as gateways to the community. They all have a uniform look to them, but associations were able to choose colors and the tagline and/or established date. Currently we have two installed on Grand River and Asbury Park and Grand River and Archdale and plan to have one somewhere on Schoolcraft.
We are also going to get an artsy sign, handcrafted by the Brightmoor Collective. This wooden sign will look a bit different from the uniformity of the other ones, but it will be a great touch at the Community Garden and Archdale Lot.
As President, I have heard from residents about how great the new signs look and gotten thanks. Yolanda Burnett, Board Member and Street and Block Captain Coordinator heard from quite a few residents on Archdale after they were installed. In fact, a block captain and resident on Archdale recently shared how much pride the new signs made her feel in her neighborhood. She shared, “The new Grandmont Sign on Archdale at Grand River is beautiful! It makes you think you are in a ‘Grand Community’ and to take pride in it. I already do, but now it may inspire more neighbors!” I hope, like this resident, that this does inspire more of us to get involved and say hi to a neighbor. We live in an amazing neighborhood. Thank you to the City of Detroit stewarding the ARPA funds in this way.

Yard Signs
You may have noticed some yard signs for the Grandmont Annual Meeting and for the Grandmont Scholarship during the months of March and April. Soon, we will be placing some signs out reminding residents to become a dues paying member of the association and in the future we will have signs for the Garden Tour. All of these signs have QR codes to take you to thegrandmontcommunity.org in order to find out more. This is so we can advertise and reuse these resources for multiple years. If you have a neighbor who doesn’t understand what it is, show them how to use the QR code. Please watch out for these signs when you see them.
Fun Litter Pickup Club
Did you know about the Fun Litter Pickup Club? Started by Rosedale resident Mary Madigan, in 2017, they meet monthly at Rosa’s for coffee, fellowship and then to go out and pick up litter in the neighborhood. This year, Mary reached out to GCA Board President, Samantha Bonaparte, to invite Grandmont residents to the events. Grandmont has started coming to their events in 2025 and felt so welcomed! There are residents from North Rosedale Park, Rosedale Park, Grandmont No. 1 and Grandmont who attend! In March Samantha Bonaparte and Susan Hood attended, and in April they were joined by Danielle Jackson and Yolanda Burnett. Grandmont plans to join in when they meet and head over to tackle our trouble spots in the neighborhood. Sound like fun to you? Have a teen who needs some service hours? Join us next month, Saturday, May 10 at 9:30am at Rosa Coffee Shop. https://www.funlitterpickupclub.org/
