2025 ANNUAL MEETING
I hope you had a good reason for not attending our Grandmont Annual Meeting on April 12. You were missed, but thanks to Krystal Thurman and her volunteer committee members, this was another successful event. After a long winter season, our spring event is a perfect time to reconnect with neighbors and meet new friends.
In addition to the educational expo and election of new board members, dues were collected, raffle tickets sold, and a delicious meal was shared with our community. What a truly enjoyable way to spend the afternoon! Thank you to those who took the time to make this another special event. Your feedback is always welcome. Let us know how we are doing, and any improvements you can suggest. Save the date: another community meeting is scheduled on Saturday, October 4 at 11am at the Redford Library.
STREET DRAINS
Please remember to sweep the curb area in front of your home along with your other spring and summer chores. If there is a clogged street drain with caked leaves and other debris in front of or on the side of your home, please take extra steps to clear the area.
Help a neighbor with this chore if you can. Your kind action will benefit all of us when there is heavy rainfall. Basements as well as the streets will less likely become flooded. A little action makes a big difference when leaves and debris cover these drains. Water can’t flow freely and basement flooding could result. If your clear out actions aren’t successful, call the water department or use the Improve Detroit App to report a more serious obstruction.
TREE PLANTING That also gives you another good reason to plant a tree or some shrubs in your yard – or request a tree planted by the city. Trees provide shade, but also are extremely beneficial with reducing water runoff and flooding, and trees reduce harmful air pollution
