GCA Scholarship Committee, GCAYE, Youth and Education Committee

The Grandmont Community Association Scholarship Committee sponsored its College & Skilled Trades Expo in collaboration with the GCA Youth and Education Committee. This event was held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Redford Branch Detroit Public Library. All youth & their parents had the opportunity to meet with college & skilled trade representatives to discuss programs, financial aid, scholarships, and more.

I gratefully appreciate all of the community city leaders, associations, friends and neighbors who supported our event. In addition, a special thanks to the following: Jenise Collins, Debra McIntosh Parnell, Sandi Rideaux-Miller, Bre’Anna Johnston, Annette Lotharp, Samantha Bonaparte, Ethel Smith, Carman Brandon, Emily Gagnon, Yolanda Burnett, Justin Jozwiak, Ethel Revels, Sharon Shaw, Sonja Johnson, Stephen Franklin, Paulette Franklin, Andreell Harris, Wallace Harris, Chris Turner, Victoria Turner, Chris Turner Jr., Commander Dietrich Lever, NPO Precious Reed, NPO Baron Coleman, NPO Troy Wesley, NPO Shawn Childrey, Dena Greene, WDIV Channel 4, and yours truly, Cora A. Duncan-Foster. We planned, organized and implemented this project.  I appreciate you all for your enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication. Your role was crucial to the success of our 2026 Grandmont College & Skilled Trades Expo.  You are outstanding!

The representatives were: Alcorn State University, Baker College, Central Michigan University, Detroit College Access Network, Hampton University, Howard University, Jackson State University, Lawrence Technological University, National Association of University Women, Oakland University, Parrish Academy, Randolph Career Tech, Schoolcraft College, and University of Michigan Dearborn. They were extremely resourceful and enthusiastic. Looking forward to the 2027 Grandmont College & Skilled Trades Expo!
