GCA Scholarship Committee

The GCA Scholarship Committee consists of Debra McIntosh Parnell, Sandi Rideaux-Miller, Samantha Bonaparte, Jenise Collins, Harrison Duke III, Julie Janusch, Mark Janusch, Larissa Richardson, Ethel Smith, Ethel Revels, and I. We have excelled in developing team momentum, enthusiasm and pride! Thank you! We express sincere appreciation for the certificates from State Representative Stephanie A. Young, Wayne County Commissioner Alisha Bell, U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib, and Wayne County Commissioner Monique Baker McCormick. Furthermore, our honoree received the Grandmont Community Association Excellence Certificate. Now, his portfolio shows the highest standard of certificate excellence.

All of us, as well as the general public, greatly admire the accomplishments of Grant J. Johnson, our 49th Scholarship Recipient. On Tues- day, August 13, 2024, at the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation, 19800 Grand River Ave., a festive reception was celebrated to honor him with family, friends, and the Grandmont Community. In attendance was: Philip E. Foster, Ethel Smith, Jenise Collins, Justin Jozwiak, Sandi Rideaux-Miller, Lauryn Miller, Roman Miller, Julie Janusch, Edna Bell, Samantha Bonaparte, Kevin Johnson, Krystal Thur- mond, Larissa Richardson, Sonja Johnson, Lorena Rashid, Summer Crawford, Danielle Jackson, Michael Van Tull, Debra McIntosh Parnell, James A. Bell, Curtis Parnell, Lynn McNeal, Wayne County Commissioner Alisha Bell, Yolanda L. Burnett, Ethel Revels, & I, Cora A. Duncan-Foster.

Furthermore, the honoree was interviewed by a panel which included: GCA Board of Directors, Scholarship Committee, and Committee Chairs. At the reception, our honoree presented his future goals and essay. Grant was asked questions and received words of encouragement from the audience. He demonstrated excellent oral presentational skills; projected self-confidence, authority and enthusiasm; and displayed a higher degree of professional excellence. His every word assured us that we made the right selection and that the Grandmont Scholarship is a resource that lends to the future leaders of our community, city and state. In addition to the certificate, the honoree received a $2,000 check for his university payment. Grant will be attending Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. The GCA Scholarship was made possible by the generous donation from Huntington Bank and the Grandmont Community. To the honoree, please accept our heartfelt congratulations for your success!
