The Grandmont Community Association (GCA) Scholarship Reception was a resounding triumph! The Scholarship Committee extends sincere thanks to the many people who helped to make this reception the great success it was! We especially extend sincere gratitude to the Grandmont Community for its continued support, as well as to Huntington Bank for its grant, which made it possible to award more scholarships. Appreciation is also extended to Mayor Mary Sheffield, U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib, Detroit City Council President James E. Tate, Jr., State Representative Stephanie A. Young, Wayne County Commissioner Alisha Bell, Wayne County Sheriff Raphael Washington, Commander Deitrich Lever, Detroit Police Reserve Officers, and Wayne County Sheriffs for their support.

The 2026 Scholarship Awardees are Vivica Addrow, Kaleb Booker, Aniya Floyd, Stephan Franklin, Wallace Harris, Grant J. Johnson, Lauryn Miller, and Jeremiah D. Robinson were honored at a reception held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Leland Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. Our awardees presented their accomplishments and goals. They delivered presentations with poise, confidence, enthusiasm, and a high degree of professional excellence. Their every word assured us that we made the right selection and that the Grandmont Scholarship is a resource that leads to future leaders of our community, city and state. To the awardees, please accept our heartfelt congratulations for your success!

The program featured emcees Jenise Collins and Christopher Turner, with a keynote presentation by Sandra Rideaux-Miller titled Two Shoes Making a Connection. In attendance was: Vivica Addrow, Kaleb Booker, Aniya Floyd, Stephan Franklin, Wallace Harris, Grant J. Johnson, Lauryn Miller, Jeremiah D. Robinson, Philip E. Foster, Ethel Smith, Sonja Johnson, Ethel Revels, Jarrette Wright Booker, Kenyatte Booker, Paulette Franklin, Kevin Johnson, Lisa Robinson, Alana Burke, Beverly King, Lawrence Miller, Sandra Rideaux-Miller, Christopher Turner, Andreell Harrris, M. Bynum, Jenise Collins, Justin Jozwiak, Beatrice Smith, Vivian Kidd, Jacqueline Kidd, U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib, Detroit City Council President James E. Tate, Lynn McNeal, William Taylor, Bernadine Hoston and myself, Cora A. Duncan-Foster.

The GCA Scholarship Committee, led by Cora A. Duncan-Foster, includes the following members – Samantha Bonaparte, Carman Brandon, Jenise Collins, Justin Jozwiak, Debra McIntosh-Parnell, Ethel Revels, Sandra Rideaux-Miller, Christopher Turner, and Ethel Smith. The exceptional dedication and countless hours devoted by our committee have contributed to a successful scholarship application process. Thank you!
