The Grandmont Community Association Scholarship Reception was a tremendous success!

A Special thank you to Huntington Bank, GRDC and the Grandmont Community for making the scholarships possible!

We appreciate all presentations!  Debra McIntosh Parnell introduced our speaker, Dr. Orletta Caldwell, CEO of Beyond Existing Enterprises, who delivered a powerful presentation on Emotional Intelligence & Critical Thinking. An outstanding presentation on College Security & Safety was given by Sandra Rideaux-Miller and honorees.

The 2025 Scholarship Awardees are: Vivica Addrow, Aniya Floyd, Grant J. Johnson, Isis King, Zhariyah M. Laughlin, Lauryn Miller, and Jeremiah D. Robinson. The GCA Scholarship Committee consists of Sandi Rideaux-Miller, Debra McIntosh Parnell, Samantha Bonaparte, Jenise Collins, Harrison Duke III, Julie Janusch, Mark Janusch, Justin Jozwiak, Todd Perkins, Larissa Richardson, Ethel Smith, Ethel Revels, and I. We have excelled in developing team momentum, enthusiasm and pride! Thank you! 

We express sincere appreciation for the certificates from U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib, State Senator Mary Cavanagh, Detroit City Council President Pro Tempore James Tate Jr., State Representative Stephanie A. Young, and Wayne County Commissioner Alisha Bell.  Furthermore, our honorees received the Grandmont Community Association Excellence Certificate. Now, their portfolio shows the highest standard of certificate excellence.

All of us as well as the general public greatly admire the accomplishments of our seven awardees.   On Saturday,  June 28, 2025 at the Christ the King Church Koelzer Hall 20800 Grand River Ave., a festive reception was celebrated to honor them with family, friends, and the Grandmont Community. In attendance was: Vivica Addrow, Aniya Floyd , Grant J. Johnson, Isis King, Zhariyah M. Laughlin, Lauryn Miller, and Jeremiah D. Robinson, Philip E. Foster, Lawrence Miller, Jomo King, Julie Janusch, Travell Floyd, Dawn Floyd, Toni Dunbar, Darlita King, Vivian Kidd, Sonja Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Lynn McNeal, State Representative Stephanie A. Young, Shawnte Mosby, Jacqueline Robinson, Detroit City Council President Pro Tempore James Tate Jr., Kayla Brown, Dustin Campbell, Meredith McConnell, Bre’Anna Johnston, Dr. Orletta Caldwell, Debra McIntosh Parnell, Curtis Parnell, Ethel Smith, Lisa Turner, Andre Robinson, Samantha Bonaparte, Yolanda L. Burnett, Ethel Revels, Sandra Rideaux-Miller and I, Cora A. Duncan-Foster.

Furthermore, our honorees presented their accomplishments and goals. They  demonstrated excellent oral presentational skills; projected self-confidence, authority and enthusiasm; and displayed a higher degree of professional excellence.  Their every word assured us that we made the right selection and that the Grandmont Scholarship is a resource that lends to the future leaders of our community, city and state. In addition to the certificate, the honoree received a check for their university payment.The GCA Scholarship was made possible by the generous donation from Huntington Bank and the Grandmont Community. To the honorees, please accept our heartfelt congratulations for your success!
