The GCAYE Committee hosted its annual Hat & Glove Collection Walk Up or Drive Up on Saturday, November 15, at Ramsay Park. Donating hats, gloves, and mittens is crucial because they provide essential warmth, comfort, and dignity to those in need in our community.
Every year, I am reminded how lucky we are to have such generous and kind “Good Neighbors” in the Grandmont Community!
Thanks to the generosity of Grandmont “Good Neighbors”, and residents of our surrounding communities, we were able to donate over 700 items (hats, gloves, mittens, socks, a few scarves and 2 coats) to spread warmth to the students at Edison Elementary School and to the Holiday Giving Trees at Chaney Branch and Redford Branch Detroit Public Libraries.
A very special thank you to Bank of America, for their support and donation of hats, gloves and mittens to our collection drive and to our Community Champions: Craft Car Care, Cutz Lounge The Grooming Shop, Elias Donuts, Hardware Express, Royal Fresh Market and St. Mary of Redford Catholic Church for being collection locations. We would not have been able to do this without your support!!
A HUGE Thank You to the Grandmont Youth & Education Committee: Samantha Bonaparte, Yolanda Burnett, Cora Duncan-Foster, Emily Gagnon, Sonja Johnson, Sandi Rideaux-Miller, Sharon Shaw and Ethel Smith. It is because of their dedication, coordination and vision during this winter season that children and individuals in our community have warm heads and warm hearts, that these wonderful gifts were made possible.
Thank you, and have a beautiful holiday season!
