DID YOU KNOW? The application filing period is July 1 thru September 15. The City of Detroit will provide a discount to homeowners who are at least 65 years old and have a Principle Residence Exemption (PRE) on file. Currently, the Solid Waste Fee is $250. Qualifying Seniors will receive a discount of $125, noted on your summer tax bill. If you continue to own and occupy the home, YOU WILL NOT NEED TO REAPPLY EACH YEAR.
You must file your application request with the City of Detroit Treasurer’s Office by September 15, 2025.
