This year’s Annual Meeting was held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at New St. Paul Tabernacle Church’s gymnasium and was a huge success.
As always, the residents of the “Home of Good Neighbors” came out in support of our community and enjoyed good company. There was a vendor-packed COMMUNITY EXPO, valuable information shared, new Board of Directors elected, an amendment to the By-Laws voted on, the Street & Block captains were introduced, politicians were in attendance – like Council President Pro-Tem James Tate, and his liaison, Lynn McNeal, Wayne County Commissioner Alisha Bell, State Rep. Stephanie Young who also brought informational books to handout, Steele Hughes from the Neighborhood Manager’s office and a sheriff spoke briefly. There was a delicious meal served, accompanied by good music, DJ’d by Jomo King.
For those neighbors who have not had an opportunity to enjoy this event, please plan to join us next year.
Thanks once again to the generosity of the New St. Paul Tabernacle Church @ 15340 Southfield Service Dr. under the leadership of Pastor Hicks and helpfulness of the staff, we enjoyed a clean, comfortable and ADA accessible location to hold the event.
We thank the vendors who came out to our event in support of our community by participating in the Community Expo that was bigger than ever. They brought with them valuable resources and information.
Our committees also had an opportunity to showcase their work. The scholarship committee invited two former scholarship recipients to talk about the impact their awards earned them.
Annual Meeting is synonymous with Election Day. This year, we had seven contenders running for the election of (6) Board of Director seats for the Grandmont Community Association. We are excited to announce three new members and three former members as the winners of this election. Congratulations go to Alex Han-Voth, Danielle Jackson, Kavivi Muli, Diane Patterson, Robert Patterson and Yolanda Burnette.
With an array of interests and community engagement opportunities, it will be an exciting year as we explore issues from beautification to safety as a community.
A thank you must go out to the businesses and individuals that supported Grandmont with prizes for the raffle held afterwards. Once again, the prizes were terrific and the odds of you winning were better than winning the lottery! Plus there was the 50/50 raffle that garnered one lucky winner $140. Please patronize our prize donors and let them know we appreciate their support of the Grandmont Community. AUTO ZONE (With (2) Essential Kits filled to the brim with items), CRAFT CAR CARE (Free oil change), CITGO GAS STATION (Bottles of water and juice), ELIAS DONUTS (4 Dozen Donuts) A champagne basket w/champagne donated by 5th AVENUE LIQUOR, HONEY’S DETROIT (With (2) Lunches), REDFORD GRILL (Donated (2) $25 gift cards), ROYAL FRESH MARKET donated a $20 gift certificate towards groceries, SANDI MILLER (donated a sports bag filled with goodies), STEPHEN FRANKLIN (donated a handmade cutting board and slate coasters with a unique Grandmont logo), and TWO ANONYMOUS donors donated wine for a gift basket, an Amazon Gift card, a Coldstone Ice Cream gift card, a Kohl’s gift card, a Red Lobster gift card and (4) admissions to the Henry Ford Museum. Wayne County Commissioner ALISHA BELL donated (4) surprise items (gift cards presumed) to the raffle as well.
It was the tireless work of the many individuals on the Annual Meeting Committee and the Youth & Education Committee that made this event a success. We thank you for your efforts and support. We take this opportunity to thank former Board members and invite everyone to support the incoming Board in the establishment of a strong and successful community.
