A Message from the Youth & Education committee
The Youth & Education Committee has become a coalition partner with 313Reads: Detroit Literacy Coalition. 313Reads is a coalition committed to working side by side in collective impact with citywide, statewide, and national partners toward literacy access, equity, and justice to support grade level reading.
During the week of February 24 -March 2nd, members of the Youth & Education Committee participated in Detroit’s celebration of Black Children’s Book Week – a celebration of books that celebrate Black children, families, and joy.
During Black Children’s Book Week members of the Youth & Education Committe hosted a Make-Your-Own Bookmark Station at the Kick-Off Celebration at Durfee Innovation Society, as well as sponsored refreshments and beverages for the Storytime andCrafts and the Young Adult Book Club at the Redford Branch Detroit Public Library. We look forward to continued collaborations with 313Reads!
